2024

Green Opened on SATURDAY 6th April

Early Season Open Day  (Big Bowls Weekend) SUNDAY  26th May _______12:00 noon - 4:00pm

Looking for a new hobby with some light exercise and make new friends? then this could be for you.

Thurmaston Bowls Club is pleased to welcome you all to join us. Our membership fees are very reasonable, the first year being Just £20 new bowlers (which includes £13 capitation fee payable to Bowls England and Leicestershire Bowls)

There are 6 outdoor rinks, we have a licensed bar and we hold several varied social events throughout the year.

We play a number of friendly matches throughout the season with local clubs, either at home or away on Thursday's, Saturday's and Sunday afternoons.

We also compete in two evening leagues, Monday's West Leicester Triples league  and Wednesday's Wymeswold Division 1 Triple's league.

We actively encourage our players to enter wider competitions at Club, Leicester Parks, County and National Levels.

We have members who will provide tuition, help and guidance for either beginners, or those wishing to improve or players with a disability (we have specialist bowling equipment including a bowls wheelchair available for use).

We have a regular buddie night on a Tuesday evening 16.30 to 18:30 where you can come for a friendly "roll-up" with club members, hone your skills and practice with the club coach or just have a drink and a chat in the club pavilion. Bowls are available to loan, just remember to bring your flat shoes.

Not only does bowls get you active and meeting new people, it has been medically proven that bowls improves your general health and helps to strengthen your immune system. Did you know that during an average game you will: bend more than 40 times, walk approximately 1,260m, and swing your arm more than 40 times to deliver a bowl weighing over 3 pounds!?
